This case study provides an overview of the performance management software that Matrix developed on behalf of the UK’s National Offender Management System (NOMS). It describes some of the advantages of the system, such as faster turnaround of performance management reports, easier access to a wide range of performance data, an easy to use web interface for collecting performance data, and improved quality of the collected data.

The new Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) legislation mandates that you collect evidence and report on your progress towards reducing CO2 and Greenhouse gasses. CRC Solutions imports existing data sets, collects data from your sites / staff, tracks and reports on progress and empowers your staff to collaborate and make a real difference to the CO2 emissions of the business. Reducing CO2 means reducing the resources you use which in turn improves the bottom line.

CRC Solutions is a web based software portal with built in e-forms to ask the right questions, a set of reports to monitor and manage your CRC submissions and the ability to create an on-going evidence pack of activities, actions and impacts. It has been developed alongside our customers, our environmental consultancy partners and internal analysts and statisticians over the last year leading up to CRC. You can download more information here.

Below is an example of how one of our clients has benefited from CRC Solutions within a custom made software built for them.

Matrix developed the risk management system (Environmental, Insurance, Health & Safety) across the groups global divisions, here is what or client had to say about us and the Charter Safety Hub tool:

“Matrix has been a true “partner” in this project, helping in design process, challenging old ways of doing things and coming up with positive suggestions for improvement. The application continues to develop and improve to meet both local and central needs.”

Find out more about this project below »

This is an online Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) tool designed and managed by Matrix alongside Charter’s Risk Management Director. It helps reduce work-related injuries while providing more cost effective and responsive risk management. The software is also used to measure and minimise Charter’s environmental impacts. The system has extensive reporting capabilities providing group and local managers with summaries of incident types, number of lost work days, media coverage, health and safety audits and all other aspects of health and safety requirements. This reporting is all ‘live’ and immediate. Workflows are based on country specific statutory requirements provided by the Health & Safety Executive in the UK and OSHA in the US. EHS Incident reviews and Management Reporting are built in and the software provides a group wide EHS Balanced Scorecard and automatic language translation (from local to English) to ensure accurate incident reporting capture.

Reduce your office’s impact on the environment by displaying a range of our ‘Save the Planet’ posters around your office.

NOMS Performance Hub provides probation and prison stakeholders with data collection, validation, collation, reporting and collaboration tools. Matrix has supported corrections staff to migrate from a paper-based data reporting system to an automated web-based tool delivering significant benefits in terms of speed and data quality. The MOJ continue to commission further expansions to the tool, recognising that our system is the most cost effective option for providing timely business intelligence.

This tool currently holds 34 million records (24 million of which have around 40 fields) and has an expected growth of 20 million records per year. The tool has been verified by Ministry of Justice as meeting cyber-security requirements for transferring and storing data with the protective marking ‘restricted‘.

You can download a brochure on this tool here. Brochure references and links can be found below:

1. A recent review undertaken by Dolan and Halpin for the Institute for Government identifies nine drivers of behaviour, amongst these are the use of salient information for different stakeholders (indicators and information which matter most), and norms (how individuals believe they compare with one another).

To support our staff’s commitment to help the environment, we have produced a series of posters giving simple tips on how to help the environment while in the office. These are available for free download as we hope that other companies will find them useful to their CSR programmes. Click on the banner below to download them. Here are a couple of thoughts from people who have used our posters:

“Excellent idea, i have used all of these around our office building, even if one person see’s the posters and acts it worth the time and effort of printing and putting these up.”

“Thanks for putting these up, i have printed some of them off to encourage my colleagues. The more interesting facts the better, my favourite ones are ones that give you factual incentive to do something! Thanks very much.”

“These posters are tremendous. Thought provoking. I will try to implement these things in my life and office. Thanks to “Matrix Knowledge Group.”

“I think the Save the Planet posters are a great idea and a reminder for all staff in how they can do their bit to help. Thank you.”
