Alison Martin: Chief Operating Officer

Alison joined Matrix Evidence in February 2010 as Chief Operating Officer. Her academic qualifications include a BSc (Honours) in Experimental Immunology and Oncology in 1984 and MBChB in 1987, both awarded by the University of Manchester, and an MSc in Primary Care in 1999 from Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London. Her main interests are in developing and using a pragmatic approach to systematic reviews and REAs so that rigorous evidence syntheses are delivered to clients within tight deadlines and restricted budgets.

Maria Rizzo: Senior Research Manager
Maria joined Matrix Evidence in November 2010 as Senior Research Manager. Her academic qualifications include a BSc (Honours) in Psychology with Clinical Psychology at the University of Kent, and an MSc in Forensic Mental Health Science from the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London. Maria has held research posts at the National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health, producing NICE clinical guidelines and with the Department for Education, evaluating the quality of parenting programmes at the National Academy for Parenting Research. Her main interests are to use practical and robust scientific methods to synthesis information to help inform policy development.

Victoria Clift-Matthews: Editorial Project Manager
Victoria joined Matrix in January 2011 as Editorial Project Manager. She has considerable editorial experience particularly in health publishing across a variety of products, in addition to experience as a clinical practitioner. In her most recent role, Victoria was an associate publisher for a healthcare publishing company where she managed a range of peer-reviewed journals aimed at different health practitioners, including midwives, palliative nurses, school nurses and healthcare assistants. She has a BA in English and a Diploma in Midwifery Practice from King’s College London. Her special interests are public health and midwifery and she was editor of the British Journal of Midwifery for four years. Victoria also launched a new journal for African nurses and midwives to increase knowledge dissemination across African countries and help reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality.

Louise Lombard: Researcher
Louise joined Matrix in July 2011 as a researcher. She has experience in conducting quantitative research and systematic reviews as well as clinical dietetics. Louise comes from Stellenbosch University in South Africa where she completed her Masters degree in Nutrition, worked as a researcher for a systematic review on risk factors for cardiovascular disease in Africa, and was a part time lecturer in nutrition. She assisted in the development of the questionnaire and budget for the protocol of the upcoming Partnership for Cohort research and Training (PaCT), a component of the Global Epidemiology Initiative established at the Harvard School of Public Health. She also consulted on menu analysis and adaptation of all public hospital menus for special diets in the Western Cape, South Africa.

Oluwaseye Abogunrin: Researcher
Oluwaseye joined Matrix in August 2011 as a researcher. He has experience conducting systematic reviews as part of his academic career, and clinical experience as a doctor with several years of experience working as a medical officer in Nigeria. His academic qualifications include an MSc in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the London School Economics and Political Science, and a Masters in Public Health and medical degree (MB BS), both from the University of Lagos.

Obinna Onwude: Researcher

Obinna joined Matrix in November 2011. His academic qualifications include a BDS from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and an MSc in Dental Public Health from Queen Mary, University of London. He has experience as a clinical dentist, and as a systematic reviewer having worked with the Cochrane Oral Health Group on their topical fluoride reviews. His main interests lie in study methodology, especially risk of bias in trials.
