TARS are commissioned to meet the urgent needs of national NHS decision-making bodies and policy customers, such as the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). TARS are most commonly produced to inform NICE Appraisal Committee guidance on the use of new and existing medicines, treatments and procedures within the NHS in England and Wales. A defining characteristic of TARS is the need to produce the highest quality reviews of evidence to strict deadlines. The capacity of both the BMJ Evidence Centre and Matrix Evidence to deliver the required expertise in a timely fashion will be crucial.

Written by economists and health services researchers closely involved in developing evidence-based policy and practice it showcases current state-of-the-art methodology and will be an invaluable read for all policy-makers and practitioners using evidence to inform decisions, analysts conducting research to support decisions and students discovering the need for evidence-based decisions to incorporate economic perspectives and evidence.

The role
The successful candidate will assist in developing answers to complex economic and social problems, generate and communicate evidence-informed insight to support our clients in their decision-making. Senior consultants are responsible for leading, managing and developing project teams on various public sector research and consultancy proposals and projects for European Institutions and member states. They will be responsible for whole projects and be the main point of client contact. The following is essential: fluency in English and in at least one other EU27 language; a demonstrable understanding and interest in European Public Policy and Consultancy, exposure to consultancy, experience of operating at a senior level, project management experience (including budget management) a relevant Masters degree, relevant work experience and very good problem solving skills. All post holders will be required to travel abroad.

The package

The reward package is competitive and will be commensurate with the level of expertise and experience you will bring. This will include: a competitive salary, 25 days holiday (pro rata) rising by one day for each year of employment up to a maximum of 30 days, non-contributory pension or cash alternatives, as well as flexible working options.
