Mariell Juhlin
Mariell Juhlin is head of the European practice and a Director on the Matrix Insight board. Mariell has extensive experience of leading large-scale and complex (multi-disciplinary, multi-stakeholder, multi-country) evaluations, studies and projects on behalf of a range of international, bilateral, national and regional agencies, including the European Commission (Secretariat General, TAXUD, BUDG, RTD, ADMIN, INFSO, MARKT, ENTR, ECFIN, ENV, JLS, RELEX, Europeaid); the European Parliament; the World Bank; ILO; UK Public Sector (DfID, DfT, PMSU, MoJ, NHS); Irish Aid; Regional Development Agencies (SEEDA); and Private and Third Sector Organisations (BVCA, ETUI). Mariell has a BSc and an MSc in International Economics from the University of Lund, Sweden, and is a fluent speaker of English, French, Spanish, Catalan and Swedish.

Pierre Hausemer
Pierre Hausemer is a managing consultant in the European team at Matrix. Pierre has led and contributed to a large number of studies across a number of European Directorate Generals including DG MARKT, DG ENTR, DG BUDG, DG RTD, DG REGIO, DG JLS and the European Parliament. He has also worked on several assignments for European agencies including EU-OSHA and the EMCDDA. In the UK, he led a feasibility study for an Impact Assessment framework for the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and a study on the productivity implications of regulatory uncertainty for the UK’s Department for Business and Regulatory Reform (DBERR). Pierre holds a PhD in European Politics from the London School of Economics and a BSc in Economics from Miami University in the United States. In addition to English, Pierre is fluent in French and German, proficient in Spanish and he speaks basic Italian. At the London School of Economics, he has taught quantitative research methods for postgraduate students and lectured on European Politics and Policy.

Mathieu Capdevila
Mathieu Capdevila is a managing consultant in the European team who joined Matrix from a Big four consultancy firm. His background is in public policy, strategy, operational business and performance consulting. He has ten years international experience of leading consulting projects across the Europe, Asia and the USA. Mathieu has developed specific expertise in Public Sector reform, Regulatory Affairs as well as Research Development and Innovation. Key public sector clients have included UK civil service organisations (Cabinet Office, MoD, Home Office, Department for Work and Pensions, Department of Health, Department for Innovation Universities and Skills), French Ministries (French Ministry of Finance and Economics, French Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and European Institutions (European Commission DG Research, Personnel and Administration DG, Council of Europe). Mathieu has a postgraduate degree in European Geopolitics (Paris) and a Master of Economics from Portland State University (USA), and is a fluent speaker of English, French and Spanish.
